Hartford Sports Teams Post Wins Across Multiple Venues This Week

The Hartford Yard Goats posted a 7-4 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on July 8 at the field inside Dunkin' Donuts Park on Main Street.

Facility upgrades completed last month at the park allowed the doubleheader to proceed without weather delays, drawing attention from local leagues that book the same surface for practice slots.

City officials approved the turf replacement in March 2026 after reviewing wear data from the 2025 season that showed 18 percent more games canceled than the prior year.

Matches at XL Center and Bushnell Park

Inside the XL Center on Trumbull Street, the Hartford Wolf Pack defeated the Providence Bruins 4-2 on July 9 in a preseason exhibition that tested the new ice surface installed in June.

Youth teams from the Charter Oak Soccer program played two games on the adjacent outdoor field at Bushnell Park the same afternoon, with the under-12 squad winning 3-1 against a squad from West Hartford.

Both venues sit within a mile of Asylum Hill, where several high school programs rent practice time on weekday evenings.

Gate receipts at the XL Center reached $48,000 for the July 9 game, according to figures released by the Connecticut Sports Group that manages bookings for the building.

Next Week Schedule and Ticket Details

The Yard Goats return to the same Main Street field on July 12 for a 7 p.m. start against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, with single-game tickets priced at $12 for general admission.

Residents can reserve field time at Bushnell Park through the city's Parks and Recreation office on Asylum Street, where slots for July 14 already list 22 teams signed up for evening use.
